     What is the ARA?

The American Rental Association (ARA) is the international trade association for equipment rental businesses, manufacturers, and suppliers of rental equipment. They are   the leading source of education and training, business   resources, networking, news and research for the rental   industry. This member-driven organization produces The   Rental Show.

The Rental Show, held annually, is the largest equipment rental convention and trade show in the world. The Show features rental-specific seminars, industry networking and equipment for all market segments of the rental industry, including party and special event rental.

    Why was EXPO there?

As EXPO, we attend the rental show for several reasons. First, the industry specific education provided by the classes and seminars is top notch. This year, our own Jared Medaris (President of Expo Party Rentals) spoke at the National Event Rental Town Hall Meeting.

We get to meet and network with industry professionals on a national and international level. It’s great to meet with people from other businesses who have conquered challenges that we might be facing.

David and Michael worked on their Certified Event Rental Professional (CERP) certification.

Lastly, it’s a great way to stay current with today’s trends. Our team visited over 250 exhibitors on the show floor. We looked at everything from tablecloths to forklifts.

    What happened at this conference?

You better believe that we ate beignets every day, but seriously, we arrived on Friday afternoon with a purpose. We registered, we networked, we ate some great seafood.

On Saturday we attended the Tents & Events seminars from 8:00am -4:30pm. Later that night we went to the Tents & Events reception at Mardi Gras World, and indoor facility made to look like the outside courtyard of a plantation.

Sunday, we hit the seminars again from AM to PM. Jared spoke at the Event Rental Town Hall Meeting. That evening Jared, Sarah, David and Michael went to Fulton Alley, a local bowling alley and arcade where the ARA hosted the Young Professionals Network Event.

Monday morning, before the show floor opened we attended the Keynote Session where we were welcomed by the Mayor of New Orleans and heard the Property Brothers Drew & Jonathan Scott give us a pep talk. Once the floor was open our entire team hit it hard, we visited over 250 vendors. Later that evening we attended the Regional Reception for the Western US and supported a local friend, Ron Holbert from JoRonCo Rentals, as he received the ARA Man of the Year Award. Later that night Jared attended an event hosted by the ARA Political Action Committee.

On Tuesday morning we hit the show floor hard again. We sacrificed lunch time so we could meet with vendors until the last second. We were almost late getting to the airport, but we wanted to take advantage of every minute that we had in New Orleans.

Where was it and who went?

This year the show was held in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. In attendance from EXPO was: Connie Viramontes, owner, Jared Medaris, President, Sarah Viramontes, Operations, Michael Viramontes, Sales, David Holland, Outside Sales.
